The year was 1957, and a great hope was born for
those who lived in Far Rockaway; a small group of
17 Christians led by the Holy Spirit of God dared to unite for
the purpose of rescuing the lost souls of
the seaside community, armed only with the blessed Word of God.
This ministry started working from the various homes of it's
founders under the name "Genesis 3:15",
and was in those days pastored by the Rev. Rosendo Diaz.
As the years passed, God continued to bless
this small congregation through various difficulties until
the year 1970, when with a mere 39 members
and a great deal of faith, they set out to purchase the
temple in which we congregate today under the name
of "Prince of Peace".
Our next pastor was the Rev. Luis Rojas, who led this
congregation for two years until our current pastor
was established, the Rev. Edwin A. Robles. Throughout
these years that have passed, God has not only
blessed us, but has given the leaders a vision of
grand proportions both in the spiritual as well as in
the material realm, many which God has already made
a reality, and many of which we see how God is
still working on and in His perfect time will come to
pass. This is a work which encompasses not 39
individuals, but over 400 members and on special occasions
we have been host to more than 800 people. Our plans of
expansion have already accomplished the construction of
an additional school building and future plans for the
expansion the temple's worship space itself is on our
list of petitions before the Lord. These are dreams made
reality for the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Twenty eight years have passed in this location,
and from the very beginning of this ministry back in
1957, to this very day, The "Shequina Glory of God" has not
departed from this congregation. We are
privileged to be able to shout to the four winds:
